What is PPPoE ?

PPPoE is short for Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet. This means that every piece of information destined for your machine is tagged coded and forwarded on a point to point basis thereby making the delivery accurate, precise and secure.

PPPoE is now the protocol of choice in systems such as Windows Vista. It also allows a wide variety of access devices to connect such as smartphones, game consoles, etc.

How do I connect to Vijay Cable ?

There are 4 possible systems of connecting to VIJAY CABLE.

  • Dialers – for standalone PCs and other access devices.
  • Routers – for multi device connectivity
  • Wireless – for buildings like Waterfront Apartments
  • Leased Circuits – for corporate customers

I used to use a dialup account, now when I need to access my dialup account it given me a protocol error

The only reason it will do this is if you use the dialer created by VIRAJ NETWORK to try and access your dialup account by changing username
password and dialup number. The dialer created by VIRAJ SERVICES is plugged into the PPPoE socket and runs over your LAN card behind even though it looks and feels the same as your normal dialup dialer. Please do not sue this for normal dialups.

I am getting only 20 KBPS whereas I have subscribed for a 256 Kbps line ?

As per computer terms , 8 bits equal to a byte. Data transfer is measured in bits and Data storage is measured in bytes. This means that your line thickness is always measured in bits but the amount of space a downloaded file occupies will be displayed in bytes. The real reading of a 20 KBps line is therefore 160 Kbps.

I connect at 100Mbps but get only 64 Kbps, why ?

The 100 Mbps you see in the task bar is the handshake speed between your machine and our server. At our server level, we then throttle the bandwidth as per the package purchased by you from 64 Kbps to 1 Mbps or more. If you purchase a larger package more will be allowed over the 100 Mbps pipe from us to you.

What is a MAC locked account ?

A MAC locked account is a discounted account for students and SINGLE PC owners. Being a Shared system everyone shares the cost incurred and for low end users we believe it is not fair to bear the load of multiPC users.

In a MAC locked account the MAC address of the PC is locked in our system and unless you change the LAN card it is not reset by us. This means ONLY that PC can access that account and use it.

I have a PC and a laptop, can I use this type of account ?

As explained before , this account is strictly for single PC home users / beginners. A Multi PC user is neither of those and therefore cannot use this account.

What happens if I wish to MAC lock a router ?

As explained before , this account is strictly for single PC home users / beginners. A Multi PC user is neither of those and therefore cannot use this account. Only PC MAC locks are allowed and not routers.
